New works by artist Lois Bauman are featured in Canada Scapes and Spaces Art Show presented by Picture This Framing and Gallery. This Show runs during July and August in Sherwood Park, AB map
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1943, Lois Bauman has taken the wild landscape around her and reinterpreted it through her art. Her oil paintings, rendered in an impressionistic style using loose brush strokes in brilliant colours, depict the landscapes of Western Canada. Her work is frequently compared to one of Canada’s favorite artists from the Group of Seven, Tom Thompson.
The artist has studied the art of oil painting at Seattle Pacific University and has taken art courses at the University of Calgary, the Alberta College of Art, and Red Deer College. Presently a signature member of the Alberta Society of Artists and an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, she is also a founding member and past president of the Airdrie Artist’s Guild, and is a member of the Leighton Art Foundation. Her highly collectable paintings can be found in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, England,Wales, and theUnited States.
Lois has become and award-winning artist, with first place showings at the Big Country Games Regional Artists’ Competition, Zone 2, 1989, and at various other local shows in 1989, 1990, and 1993. She won the First Place Jurors’ Choice award at the F.C.A. Bankers Hall Juried Show in 1996. Her art has also been represented in juried shows at the zonal, provincial and international level. With a focus
on the splendor of colour and form, Lois captivates viewers with her unique portrayal of forest and mountain landscapes. Her use of rich hues and broad brush strokes create and intense serenity that invites the viewers to play in her forests of colour. The energy of her spirit is portrayed in each of her paintings which she has captured in their true essence by personally visiting each of the places she paints. Lois Bauman has become and award-winning artist on a zonal, provincial, and international level. Her work has been collected privately and corporately around the world including purchases by the Business Development Bank of Canada, Newalta Corporation and Genuity Capital Markets.
